Hello, and welcome to my personal page…….
I would like to share some insight on how I choose what I paint!
My inspiration for what I paint comes from whatever moves my spirit in the moment. Nature is usually at the top of that list. I’m drawn to the different elements in nature whether it’s bold colors, textures, shapes, or reflections. I’m very detail oriented, so the more intricate or complex, the more appealing it is for me to paint. Second on that list, would be my love of music. As a musician myself, I tend to gravitate toward painting old or interesting instruments and other musicians. In addition, I love old things, whether it be antique trucks, cars, or old buildings. It transcends me back to simpler times. I imagine I’m just an old soul!
My creative process is simple. Again, if it moves me, I want to paint it. It can be something as simple as the bold color of a bird, flower, insect, or animal. Sometimes, just the way light hits an object can stir me. Many of my paintings portray all the above with reflections, shadows, and details galore. It makes for a dramatic effect which is my goal, and in turn, becomes hyperrealism. For example, nature is perfect and beautiful in and of itself, and that’s what I want to capture. (God’s artwork). I also like the thrill of the challenge in capturing exactly what I see.
As you explore my paintings, my hope is that you are moved and transcended back in time, or at the very least, you feel the experience of what you are viewing. It can be a temporary out of body experience that takes you out of the present, even if it’s only for a moment, as it does for me when I’m painting it……a short escape from the present to be pleasantly lost for a while.
Peace and Love…
Annette
